Do you ever wish you could turn back time? Do you ever hope you could go back in time and do things differently? Do you ever miss the past so much that you would like to live there permanently? I used to wish I could go back in time. I used to wish I could take back some of the things I had said or I could change some of my past actions. Then I was made aware of the fact that the Lord took back what I had said and changed my undesirable actions when I let Him into my life. He turned back time by erasing my failures, my downfalls, my sins and my iniquities. He gave me a clean slate and the good news is that He gives me a clean slate every day. I repent every day and He forgives me every day. With the Lord, every day is a new beginning with new blessings with new hope and with new joy. I don’t to live in the past. I don’t have to dwell on the past. The present is where it is happening and it is where the Lord wants me to be. Stay where you are today. Celebrate what you have and where you are today. God is not taking you back to your old life. God is giving you the present for you to enjoy it as the best gift He can give you right at this very moment.
Is it bad to always live in the past? Like I said earlier, the present is where God wants us to be. Our efforts should be put into our lives now. Our focus should be in the present and not in the past. Living in the past and missing the past is a way of telling the Lord that we are not happy with the present. We are displeased with where we are and we don’t want what He is giving us. Imagine how you would feel if you gave a gift to your child every day and he or she didn’t like it. What that you knew that gift was the best present for them that day but your child wished he or she had a gift you had given them a while ago? The goal for us believers is to trust that today is a gift from God. We ought to trust that today is a good day. Today is a blessing.
After the spiritual change that took place in my life when I became more serious about the Lord, I started to see that every day was the best day of my life. Why? Because God was in it. I understood that I had all I would ever need. I might have difficulties, trials, pain and problems but I also have my God. Just writing it fills me up with joy. I have the Lord with me each and every day. What an amazing day it is! God is everywhere and that includes the present. He is by our side every second of every minute of every hour of every day. We are all set. What more can we ask? The only memories we should hold on to other than the fine memories of loved ones, are the memories of God’s interventions in our lives. It’s good to hold on to God’s successes in our past to boost our faith. Let’s keep in mind that what He did in the past He can do again today in an even greater way. Enjoy today. Stay in the present. God is right here today!
