What are your expectations this week?

This is the last full week of 2018. What do you think is going to happen this week? Are you already counting on 2019 to be better than 2018 and you can’t wait for the last week of 2018 to be over? What do you expect is going to happen at the beginning of every week? Do you have different expectations depending on what week it is? Whether it is 2018 or 2019 or 2020, we can have the same expectations. What should those expectations be? Let’s expect good things. The Lord has some great things in store for you and me this week. Let’s expect God’s blessings. Let’s expect the Lord to meet our needs this week and every week. If you need restoration, expect that God will give it to you. If you need a breakthrough, expect it to come to pass. If you need peace, expect that God will bring you peace. If you need a relationship to be fixed, expect the Lord to fix it. Have great expectations. Expect beyond what reason tells you to expect. With God, there is no rhyme or reason for many things that take place. If your mind is telling you today that your week is going to be awful, give your mind a piece of God’s mind and expect great things. Some amazing things can happen this week. Expect them!

They say that good things happen to those who wait. I agree with that statement and I also believe that good things happen to those who expect them when their expectations are founded in the Lord. When our hopes and our expectations are anchored in the One who can do anything, we have the right mindset. It actually should be more than a mindset. It should be the positioning of our hearts and spirits. Expecting great things is lining our hearts up with God’s heart. His heart is full of hope and faith. To Him nothing is impossible and to Him great things can happen any time. Imagine sharing the heart of God for your life. What a wonderful life it would be! It is possible to share His heart by continually syncing our hopes with His. When the world says we can’t do it or nothing good will happen, we ought to get on the same page as the Lord’s and erase the stories the world is trying to write in our lives. Expecting great things means expecting God to be God in our lives!

Now, you might be asking “But what if nothing good happens?” There will be times when it feels like nothing good is taking place or that God has abandoned you. Bad things do take place but it doesn’t mean that the Lord has deserted you. It’s in those times that you need to be relentless with your faith and with your praise. When the going gets tough, you need to get tougher with faith. When things seem to be going downhill, you need to go uphill with praise, prayer and thanksgiving. It’s in those hard times that you need to turn up the volume of your great expectations. Voice your hopes and voice your expectations even more during difficult times. As you keep doing that, you will be removing the hurdles and giving room for great things to come through. Expect the impossible. Expect “God’s possible.” Expect this week to be filled with heavenly impacts and manifestations of God’s love. Expect the unexpected with the Lord on your side and have a great week!
