As I was getting ready to pray the other morning, I started thinking about some of the details of my day. I started worrying about what I was going to wear that day. When you are traveling, the choices of what you can wear are somewhat limited at times. I also spent time thinking about what I needed to do that day. Then I got into prayer and I heard deep down inside “Stop worrying about the details of your day. I own the day. Don’t take that away from Me.” Once again the Lord got my attention. Worrying is like a wall we bump into. I picture it as a wall coming out of the ground, that goes high up like an elevator and that blocks the way. It prevents us from going farther. It neutralizes our faith and it wounds our spiritual growth. What I need to do when worry attacks me is pray more. I need to assail with prayer. “Pray more, worry less” is an important message we all need to hear all the time. That is certainly what the Lord tells us when we go to Him with our worries. He also tells us to cast our burdens upon Him and prayer is a great way to do it.
Worry gets into any possible cracks in our lives. It finds tiny little holes and expands its influence once it’s in. Worry eats us on the inside and it shows on the outside. It pushes us to do the unexpected and it controls our actions in a negative way. It’s one of those things that doesn’t need to be described in details because everyone knows what it feels like. We might not be able to articulate its power over us but we know what it is. I understand the importance to get it out of our system. Faith and worry don’t mesh and where worry lives, faith dies. We ought to ban worry and give it the death penalty. Praying more eradicates worry. Prayer transforms and changes us and it diminishes the power of worry over our lives. If only we prayed twice as much as we worried, we would be in very good spiritual and emotional health.
Prayer is a spiritual power. It energizes our spirit. It gives us power that we don’t always see but it’s there. It is a conversation with the Father. We talk to the creator of the universe when we pray. Think about that! Prayer is a sphere that wraps around us. A sphere where anything is possible. A sphere where God is our focus and He has our undivided attention. Prayer is making requests that have already been answered. It just needs to be supplemented with faith and we are good to go. The more we pray, the more we receive. The Word says that we don’t receive because we don’t ask. Pray that you receive the power to stop worrying. Pray that you can hear the Father’s reassuring voice. Pray to be worry-free. Pray your way into the freedom the Lord provided on the cross. Don’t worry about the details of your day. Don’t worry about the details of your life. Pray more and worry less. Talk to God and stop entertaining fear. Ask more and you will receive more. Pray the worries away. God hears you and He has exactly what you need to win over worry!
