When God gives you a suitcase

I have to start packing for my next trip to Europe at the end of the week. Packing is not my favorite thing to do but I am used to it. As I was praying the other day, I kept seeing a suitcase in my mind and I thought the Lord was reminding me to start packing early. I am sure He was giving me a reminder but then I kept hearing “When God gives you a suitcase, He is getting you ready for your journey.” Now, God is coming on our journey with us. Trying to make it in this life without Him is putting ourselves in harm’s way. Dealing with life without the Lord is like trying to breathe without oxygen. We keep gasping for air but we can’t quite catch our breath. The Lord breathes life into us. He is the life we need in our lives. He is the life, the truth and the way. When He gives you a suitcase, He knows what needed to be packed. He has filled it with all the essentials and more. He hasn’t forgotten a single item. I start packing early so I don’t forget anything. I write lists but they always get longer and longer. The Lord has a list and it is complete. Friend, you are constantly on a journey and the Lord has packed your suitcase. It’s up to you to take it and use it or ignore it and pack your own bag. I am not a fan of packing so I will take what the Lord has for me. I will hold on to His suitcase and go on my merry way knowing that I have all I need to make it in this life. I have all the elements that will help me and that will meet all the needs I might have on the way. When God gives you a suitcase, be ready to be blessed and to be satisfied more than ever.

When does God give you a suitcase? All the time. He said He would provide all your needs. The suitcase is packed and ready. Your needs were meant on the Cross of Calvary. All that you will ever need is in the Lord. He has the garment of praise for you, the helmet of salvation, the boots of joy for dancing, the jacket of faith and the clothes of peace you should don when things are getting hectic. The suitcase is a bundle of blessings. It comprises of great spiritual blessings and physical blessings. God has all you will ever need in this life and it is all ready for use. You might wonder what you will have to wear depending on the seasons ahead of you. For each season, God has an item for you to wear for protection. The helmet of faith requires some trust but if you believe that God can do the most amazing things, that helmet will always stay on you. It is needed in all seasons. Keep it on all day.

You will find out at times that you are lacking a few things but just as the Lord multiplied the fish to feed thousands of people, He will multiply what’s in your suitcase. You might need to dig a little bit inside the side pockets of the suitcase to find what you need but it is there. Our God is an all-inclusive God. He has it all. His peace is there with you. It never leaves but you have to get closer to it from time to time. Why? The world can get crazy and you lose sight of what matters. One minute you are praising the Lord and the next you are cursing the day you were born because your life has taken a turn for the worse. It’s during those times that you need to find the peace that comes with the suitcase. It’s hiding behind a few items because in your fury you turned your suitcase upside down. You have removed things and taken in articles that don’t belong in the suitcase of the Lord. Pray for order. Pray that the Holy Spirit help you reorganize things.

God has given you a suitcase and as you make the most of it you will go places. You will venture into territories where faith is the only thing that is keeping you on track as fear is trying to get access into your heart. What is the most important part of your suitcase? There is a precious connection in it. It is your connection to the Lord. Guard it with all your heart. Maintain it every day. Keep it as a treasure. Don’t let anyone take your suitcase away. Don’t put it far from you when you travel. Don’t check it in. Carry it on the plane with you. Keep it where you can see it. Keep it where you can use it. God has given you a suitcase for your day-to-day journey and it is just what you need. Enjoy your travels, cherish the journey, embrace every part of it. God has given you a suitcase and it will always be enough no matter where you are!
