Stay strong in the Lord

“Stay strong” is something I have heard often. At first I didn’t like it because it sounded like a lot of work. Then I realized that the person saying it was implying that I was already strong. All I had to do was maintain the level of strength I already had. Where did my strength come from? My strength is in the Lord. He gives my strength. He is my strength. “Stay strong” means “Stay in the Lord.” Doesn’t staying in the strength of the Lord sound amazing? We don’t have to be strong in our own strength. We just have to keep tapping into the Lord’s power. We have to keep hanging on to God. We have to keep trusting God. When we do, we will continue to be strong. When we do, our trials and difficulties won’t seem so strong. The idea is to remain stronger than the adversity and we can achieve that thanks to the Lord. If you are going through a hard time right now, remember that your strength is in the Lord. Remember that you have easy access to the Lord. Remember that He is your Rock and your Refuge. Remember that nothing is impossible to Him and your problems have to bow down in front of His majesty. Remember that you can make it. Not because of who you are but because of who He is! Stay strong in the Lord. You are going to make it!

How do you define the Lord’s strength? Asking ourselves this question is a great exercice. Do you see God’s strength slightly above human strength or is it way beyond? Is God a Hulk on steroid according to you or is He divine, all-powerful and above everyone? God’s strength cannot be measured. God strength is more powerful than all human strength that will ever exist. God’s strength can do all things. There is nothing in this world that is stronger than the Lord. Repeat that to yourself. Let your mind hear it. Let it drop into your spirit. Keep that truth in front of your eyes. Let your faith in that truth be solid. No one and nothing is stronger than the Lord. That is where you should start in your quest to understanding what staying strong in the Lord means. It means that the power that is immeasurable is backing you up. God’s strength is your strength. Believe it. Accept it. You are nothing without Him. He makes you strong. He makes you win. He makes you who you are today. Stay in the strength and in the power of who the Lord made you. Stay strong with God in you.

The verb “to stay” means to remain in a specific state or position. When you are encouraged to stay strong in the Lord, you are encouraged to remain in the state of strength and the position of power where the Lord has you. He put you there. He got you there. You are made strong by the Lord. Now, He desires for you to first acknowledge that He made you strong and then strive to remain in that state where strength doesn’t lack. Storms will rise, problems will try to cripple you but you ought to remain in the Lord’s position of strength. Don’t let the high winds rock your boat. God has given you a powerful boat of faith and you should stay on board and keep going. Don’t jump ship every time something bad happens. I know it is easier said than done but it has been done and you will be able to do it again. Thank the Lord for His strength daily. Be grateful for the strength He has given you and always rely on Him. Let your faith be bigger than any attacks of the enemy. The Lord won’t let you down. Stay strong in Him. You’ve got this!
