Let God be God

One of the messages I have been getting strongly lately is to “let God be God.” God Himself through His Spirit has been encouraging me to let Him be God. What does it mean to “let God be God”? It means to accept Him for whom He is and to stop worrying about everything. What is the connection with worrying you might ask? When we worry, we don’t let God be God. We show that we don’t believe that God can take care of the situation. Every time we worry, we shave off God in our minds and in our hearts. We strip Him of His love, His kindness and His power. We put Him in quarantine and we isolate Him. We remove Him from His throne in our minds. Worry displaces God. Worry hides God. Worry alienates us from God. Worry is the belief that we have take charge of our lives and we panic because we know we are inadequate. Worry doesn’t let God be God. Worry is the enemy of faith and without faith we can’t please God. Without faith we can’t know God.

God is Spirit. He is omniscient. He is Almighty and powerful. When we don’t let God be God, we don’t trust that He can do the impossible. We don’t believe that He is everywhere because we get to a place where fear is prevalent and we feel that God is not there anymore. One of the mistakes we make is when we try to feel God, when we try to know Him through our feelings and emotions. He is not there. Look for God inside your feelings when you are going through a tough time and you won’t find Him there. He is definitely in your heart. He is by your side. You will find Him when you let Him be God and you start seeing through the eyes of faith. Faith shows you a whole new world and God is always in it. Faith sees God all the time no matter what our feelings and our emotions are. Let faith open your eyes to God. Faith is the best tool that give us the means to let God be God.

When we take steps of faith, we rely on what we believe. We have the blessed assurance that God is with us, that He is on our side and that He won’t let us down. That is how we should be “picturing God” if you will. Faith is the best way to approach God and to know God. Faith says “This is God. I might not see Him with my physical eyes but the eyes of my spirit see Him all the time and He is not forsaking me.” Faith speaks and faith says the truth. The truth spoken by faith might appear to be the opposite of what’s going on in your world but it is the truth. Faith can give you the breakthrough you need because it always lets God be God in your life. Faith adheres to the Word of God and faith knows that God’s promises will come to pass. Faith lets God be the faithful God of truth that He is.

Letting God be God implies letting Him work through us. God is love and He wants you and me to be open doors that let love go out into the world and touch people’s lives. Letting God be God is letting His Spirit lead us and guide us in all things. Letting God be God is recognizing that we can’t make it without God. When we acknowledge Him in all our ways, we let Him be the King of kings that He is. When you let God be God, you give Him the wheel. You sit back and relax and enjoy the journey. You count your blessings and you share them with others. You magnify God and you praise Him. You show Him gratitude all the time and you keep that attitude. When you let God be God, you learn about Him every day through His Word and through His Spirit. You give up on yourself and you let Him lead the way. When you let God be God, all you get is love, joy, peace, blessings, hope, faith and patience. Let God be God in your life. He will always make sure that you have the life He wants for you. Die to self and live for the Lord. That’s a beautiful way to let God be God!
