To conquer is to overcome and to take control of a place or people by use of military force. That is the basic definition of conquering. It is the idea that we take something by force and we dominate it. Conquering our fears is overcoming them and taking control of them by force. Conquering bad circumstances is overcoming them and taking control of them by force. Conquering our doubts is overcoming them and dominating them with faith. For us believers, faith is what we use to overcome and take control of whatever is standing in the way. Faith is the dominator that allows us to take control of the worst situations. Faith is the power behind our victories. Faith is the force that changes everything. It gives us control of the narrative and it gives us a boost when we need it. Faith is more powerful than we think and it is more accessible than we sometimes imagine. All we need is a mustard seed. It is a statement from God and I love that statement. It is true. It is a fact from God. All you and I need is a tiny piece of faith. That particle of faith jumpstarts hope and propels us to higher levels of faith when we water it. Because you believe in God, you have faith. Without faith we can’t please God or differently said without faith we can’t know God and connect with God. You pray because you have faith. You praise because you have faith. You study the Bible because you have faith. It doesn’t matter if it’s blind faith or small faith.
As long as you have faith, you are operational on the continuum of seeing things come to pass before they happen. That is what faith allows you to do. It gives you eyes to see what is not there yet. It gives you eyes to see God, to see His love, to see His peace, His joy and His promises. One of His promises is that in Him and through Him you are more than a conqueror. You probably understand that it takes a lot of faith at times to see yourself as more than a conqueror. When life is tough and nothing is going your way, seeing yourself as more than a conqueror is a real challenge. Friend, with the Holy Spirit on your side, no challenge is too difficult for you. You are more than a conqueror in the name of Jesus. Take your mustard seed and start watering it with this truth. Start feeding your faith until it grows into a tree. Life gives you many opportunities to water your seed of faith. Every trial and tribulation are a good excuse to exercise your faith. Today I am inviting you to believe that you are more than a conqueror. You have the measure of faith that is needed to make it. You have a Lord that overcomes the world and that has power over everything. You are not just going to conquer your next obstacle; you are going to be more than a conqueror in that situation.
Romans 8:37 states that we are more than conquerors through Christ. I love the NLT version of that verse. It says “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” The weight of the word “overwhelming” here is tangible to me. I have experienced overwhelming victories in my life through Christ and I strongly believe that it is a lifestyle now because I am holding on to the bearer of good news, the One who conquered the world. His victory on the cross and through the resurrection is overwhelming. It took care of everything that will ever take place. It sets everything right. Every bad thing that will ever happen in life can be made whole and can be corrected by the power of Jesus’ resurrection. He conquered death and all its negative agents. Its agents include all the problems, hurdles, obstacles, trials and problems you will ever face. Amen! They can all be dominated by the overwhelming power of the Lord. Next time you find yourself in a pinch, praise the Lord for His overwhelming power to change anything. Don’t let your circumstances scare you. Scare them with words of praise and victory. You are going to be more than a conqueror. Trust and believe that you already are. Speak about the victory in advance with faith. Let faith do all the talking and don’t let your emotions and feelings do all the worrying.
Note that this verse mentions “all things.” Your current predicament is part of “all things”. Your financial hardship is part of “all things”. Your current state of mind and your current fears are part of “all things.” There is nothing that will ever take place in your life that Jesus can’t control. Your faith is the force that allows Him to intervene and He will do that despite the severity and the seriousness of your situation. Note as well that you are more than a conqueror because of Christ and not because you have some special powers. It’s His power that gets the job done. It’s His power that dominates all things. God loves you and that is why you can expect to be more than a conqueror. It is your right as a believer and God’s love is the seal that enables the blessing of victory to be delivered to you in an envelope of hope every time you are facing difficulties. There is a reason why you are more than a conqueror; God’s love is the reason!
