The message I kept getting yesterday when I was praying early in the morning was that the day belongs to the Lord. I kept hearing that God owns the day. It played in my mind over and over again. It reminded me of the verse that says that “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” This verse, Psalm 118:24, addresses the body of Christ. It is for all believers. God creates every day and we ought to rejoice every day. There are things to rejoice over so as Christians, we should find those things and celebrate the Lord for them. I spent some time meditating on how the Lord owns the day. He made and created the day so it is His creation. There will be mishaps and ups and downs that will try to derail the day of the Lord but the day is His. God owns the day which means that whatever happens, you can be sure that God is in control. He is in control of the good things and the bad things. He doesn’t create the bad things but He can handle them for you. The goal is to start every day remembering that the day belongs to the Lord. He is in the frame of every event and in the background of every moment. He never leaves. He is always there whether we “feel it” or not. Today, friend, the Lord made the day and He is going to accompany you all day long. He loves our faith so let’s be sure to walk in faith all day long. Let’s be sure to keep in mind that He made the day. Since it is His creation, we should enjoy it and stay in the moment so we can see how beautiful He does what He does. We don’t need to adore the creation but we should embrace it and love the Creator. How are you going to spend the day today?
I have mentioned before how the Holy Spirit is a Maestro who orchestrates everything. We are part of this amazing concert and we have a role to play. First we should keep our eyes on the Maestro so we know what we should be doing. We have an idea and we have a sense of what to do but His direction can take us where we need to be. God is the conductor and He knows perfectly how to conduct the symphony of our lives. He knows every note and every tune that will make everything sound like a beautiful melody. He is the GPS of our path and the compass that guides us through the most complicated areas of our lives. Picture your day as a song. It is a new song every day and God has the music that makes this song a great success. He has put instruments in place so that the song sounds beautiful. It sounds beautiful to His ears and it is a powerful song. Now, the enemy comes in and tries to interfere with the song. What he does is play his own music that distracts us and that prevents us from hearing the melodies from Heaven. With the heavy music he plays come anxiety, confusion and fear. It’s the type of music that bothers your ears and that gives you a headache. Once his crazy tunes are superposed on the song of the Lord, we lose sight of the beauty of the day and we get stuck on a refrain that brings sadness and pain. Friend, the beautiful song of the Lord is still playing. There are lyrics of hope and joy still being sung in your life. Pray that you can tune in and hear the Lord. Pray that you can embrace the moment and see that today is the day the Lord has made and you should rejoice and be glad in it.
I used to think about what I could look forward to that would make my days more bearable. I had the wrong approach because I was always living for the future and in the future and missing out on the present. The present is rich with the Lord’s blessings. If you don’t know how to embrace today, start doing something new today. Do something that you haven’t done in a while and that you should be doing. Read your Bible. Dedicate some time to diving into the Word. God made today and there are many things we can do today to honor Him and to show Him we care. Start praying for someone new. Start praying for the people in your life. Maximize the day by doing things that the Lord has put in your heart. The Lord always has something to say and today is a great day to listen and to respond. Today is the day. Don’t wait another day. Go ahead and do what’s in your heart. Go ahead and celebrate the Lord. I find that celebrating Him brings me great joy. Tap into joy and tap into peace. Ask and you shall receive. Ask for the fruit of the Spirit to grow in your life. Water the fruit today. Don’t wait another day. Today is the day you can rejoice and you can reach out to God. Don’t wait until Sunday. Today is the day you can have a new start. Decide to be more into the Lord. God’s mercies are renewed every day so hang on to His new mercies today. How do you do that? Step out in faith and make the most of today. Don’t limit God today. Dream big. Dream based on His Word. Let today be a “God day” by walking in faith and not letting the mishaps derail you. Get back on track with the help of the Lord. Difficulties will show up but God owns the day and He also owns your breakthrough, your solutions and the answers to your prayers. Today is the day! Praise the Lord for today!
