One of the main reminders I get from the Holy Spirit is to thank God. He is a big advocate for gratitude to the Father. He constantly talks about thanking God and He does it no matter what is happening in my life. I find it normal and necessary to thank the Lord for His goodness, for His love and for His blessings. Thanking Him when all is well is extremely easy. Now, thanking Him when I am facing hardships is a different story. The Holy Spirit still tells me to thank the Lord when I am going through a tough patch. To Him, my circumstances should never matter because Jesus remains the same. I shouldn’t take a break from thanking God just because I am having a bad day. I shouldn’t stop thanking God just because someone close is struggling or because I am having financial difficulties. Thanking God should be a way of life. It is a way of living a better life. It is a way of incorporating the Lord beautifully in our lives. It is the way! As this new week begins I want to invite you to thank God more. Double or triple your thanksgiving to the Lord. Turn up the volume of your gratitude and you will see how it changes your attitude.
“Thank you” are two powerful words. They show that we appreciate others and that we see what they do for us. They are a declaration of gratitude that can go a long way. I thank people all the time for different reasons and I am working on thanking the Lord all the time for different reasons but I am learning that there should not be a specific reason why I thank Him. I can just thank Him for being God and He is God all the time so my thanksgiving should never stop. God will always give you many reasons to say thank You but you should develop the habit of thanking Him at all times. Just say “Thank You, Lord” throughout the day. Add a smile to it. Make it a heartfelt declaration. Thank God for being God. Do it a few days in a row and you will see how you start changing on the inside. You will have a more positive outlook on life. You will approach every situation with a thankful heart. Before you know it you will thank the Lord before taking an exam, before starting work and before having to deal with difficult people. Your thanksgiving will flow naturally and it will overtake negative feelings and bad emotions. You can’t thank God and be mad at the same time. When your thanksgiving is from the heart, it defies all negativity.
It is God’s will for you to give thanks in all circumstances. Think about it! You can do God’s will every day by thanking Him. If you have no idea what God’s will is for you, just know that thanksgiving is a big part of His will for you. He knows that thanksgiving opens doors of blessings and it transforms the atmosphere. When you feel bitter, when you feel sad, when you are tired, thank God for being God. Recalibrate and focus on the Lord instead of focusing on your feelings and your doubt and fear. Thanksgiving accompanied by faith can crush the head of fear and doubt and keep you at peace. Thanksgiving gives you joy. It is a celebration. A celebration of the Lord and the Spirit of God loves to celebrate the Lord. When you thank God, you allow the Spirit to come into your circumstances in a bigger way. You set the tone for victory and you pave the way for triumph. Give thanks to God for He is good. Give thanks to God for He is with you all the time. Give thanks to God for He will always make a way. Give thanks to God for nothing is impossible to Him. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!
