Jesus over everything

The other day I woke up feeling a bit lousy. I had what felt like an ear infection even though the doctor said I didn’t have one. It was a combination of allergies and blockage of sinuses. I had not slept well the night before and my mind was telling me it was going to be a rough day. It was 5 am, my usual wake-up time and I started to dread the day because of the thoughts that were bouncing around in my head. I refused to subject myself to that negativity. It took a stand. I said No out loud. I decided to rise above the situation knowing that Jesus was above my situation so I sided with Jesus. I used that first hour of my day to “inject” Jesus into my thinking. I chose to join Him and be joyful for that moment instead of sliding into despair. I didn’t feel good but I knew my feelings didn’t matter. Jesus mattered and He was going to get me through the day. I applied Jesus over everything. I lifted Him up above everything.

I declared the goodness of the Lord in my life. When negative thoughts attack you, you need to attack them with God’s Word. I quoted scriptures and I quoted whatever the Lord was putting on my heart. I turned the whole thing into a praise session with great words of affirmation. I wasn’t going to let the opposition win against me that early. When it begins that early, your day is usually destined to be very difficult. Fight the good fight of faith first thing in the morning, friend. How you start your day, what you think first thing in the morning and your early morning attitude are key. I put Jesus on top of all the evil the enemy wanted to do to me that day. It was Jesus over everything for me and that is how I set up my day. Set up your day with Jesus in the framework of your day. Be determined to hold on to Him all day. He is with you all the time. Recognize that. Celebrate that. Don’t let the “morning sickness” get in the way. Let Jesus get in the way of everything that is negative.

Did I feel better right away? I didn’t but I was able to see that my spirit was getting stronger and when your spirit is strong, you are halfway there. The other half is  for you to persevere and to maintain that positive attitude. The Lord will help you. Give Him what you have and He will meet you halfway. I stuck to my guns by speaking Jesus over every thought. I knew that it was important for me to remember that He has authority over everything. He can do all things and He helps us in all things. “Jesus over everything” was my motto for that day. It truly is a lifestyle and a habit we ought to develop. He reigns. He is omnipotent. He is almighty. No weapon formed against you shall conquer when you have Jesus. Use His name against the enemy. Use His name against the fear and the pain. Use His name against the bad feelings and the emotions. Be relentless. Let it be Jesus all day. He will carry you. He will bless you. He will make you a blessing to others. He will get you through anything. He will give you peace through anything. He will help you get up in the morning and you will have the best day with Him. Let it all be about Jesus and He will walk with you all day long. Nothing will harm you and nothing will win against you. You can do this, friend. Greater is the Lord that is in you than the devil that is against you. Keep your hopes up! Jesus over everything! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Hold on to the hope of the world

As long as you have Jesus, you have hope. Hope will never die. Hope came back from the dead. You might think that all hope is lost because you are in a bad situation but hope is alive and well. Jesus is the hope you need today. Go to Him and see what He has to say. If He were to appear to you today and talk to you, He would say that there is still hope. He would tell you that He died not only for your sins but for your hope. He died so that your hope would remain alive. He took all the problems of the world including yours and He put them to death so you could find life in Him. He is the way, the truth and the life and He is blowing life into your desperate situation now as you are reading this message. He is talking to you and smiling at you. He is encouraging you and reminding you that with Him, nothing is impossible. He is rebuking the lies of the enemy and the doubts. He is calling you to rise up and walk. Walk in faith. Leave the doubts behind. Leave the desperation behind. Leave the fears behind. Jesus is standing by your side and He is promising a new day, a new hope and a new future.

When things don’t go well, we tend to predict a bad future for ourselves. The fears we have are usually about the future. We put ourselves in a box where there is no way out. We think of how bad things are going to get. We can’t count on anything good. We believe the outcome of our present circumstances is going to be very negative. God has a different take on the matter. For Him, hope is present and it is available. What He wants us to do is to draw nearer to Him and tap into His love and His peace. He has all we need and He can give us the hope we long for. He is the hope. When I am not doing well, I get a big dose of Jesus. I turn to Him. I talk to Him. I let Him comfort me and I fix my eyes on Him. Fix your eyes on Jesus and He will fix your situation. Fix your eyes on Jesus and you will see a rebirth of hope everywhere. The One who conquered the world conquered your biggest trials. There is hope, friend! There is a lot of hope.

Jesus came to save the world and to preach good news. His good news is accompanied by the hope of a better day. Things might look bad now but they are going to get better. Jesus guarantees that. Take His word for it. Things are going to improve beautifully when you rely on Him. Put your hope in Jesus, the hope of the world. Let the hope in you speak for you. Don’t give a voice to the doubts and to the fears. Let Jesus in you talk about what’s going on. When you give Him the microphone, you will realize that every word that comes out of your mouth is a word of hope. You can’t turn to Jesus,  lean on Him and not ooze positivity and joy. His joy is going to hit you and take you on a journey of hope. The joy of the Lord is your strength. You get all the power you need from the Lord. Power to make it today and power to make it tomorrow. Tomorrow is bright. Jesus will make it shine. Don’t get discouraged. Hold on to Jesus, the hope of the world. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

The God of encouragement

I love that God is so encouraging. I couldn’t get through the day without His daily encouragement. What I do is load up on encouragement first thing in the morning. I start every day in prayer and part of my prayer time is meditative. I just sit still and wait. I wait on the Lord and enjoy His presence. For some reason, 5 am is the best time for me to be in prayer and to receive messages of encouragement and wisdom. There are days when I get waves of hope and I ride them high and proud. There are days when all I can think of during that prayer time is Jesus. My mind gets saturated with Him and I am extremely focused on Him. There are other times when I can’t say a word because His words flow so fast and they are filled with encouragement. He gets my undivided attention. What I hear the most in the morning is, “Do not worry and do not fear.” The Lord is so encouraging and His words hit me like a brick from Heaven. He makes me so joyful. He knows what to say and how to say it. He knows what I need to hear. He knows what to come and most of the time His words are about events to come. I keep them in my heart and I get ready to use them when needed. The truth is I need God’s encouragement all the time. I know that you do too, friend. Find a way to hear from God. Find out what your “5 am” looks like. Put yourself in a position to receive God’s encouragement.

I have been spending more time reading my Bible in the evening. I go from chapter to chapter and I pause to let the knowledge sink in. I also take time to pray when I am reading. I pray before I start reading and when I am reading. The Holy Spirit can reveal a lot to us when we rely on His guidance and His interpretation. A lot of what comes out of my Bible time is encouragement. My Bible is my preferred source of encouragement after the Holy Spirit. They both work together. The Lord is His Word and when we communicate with the Holy Spirit, He tells us what we ought to know and He points out lessons, suggestions, recommendations and nuggets of wisdom. I get so excited when I dive into the Word of God after charging my spirit with the hope of the Holy Spirit working in me. Praying to Him is what starts the process. I suggest you always pray before you enter the Word. You will find yourself in the house of peace of the Lord where wisdom lives and serenity is supreme. Go into the house of the Lord and you will be very encouraged every time. There are no situations in your life that the Lord can’t help you with. He will encourage you through the worst times so you don’t lose hope. Trust Him!

God is always encouraging. He is never going to discourage you and to bring you down by screaming judgement an condemnation at you. He is there to motivate you and to gently push you in the right direction. When things are not going well, things are always good according to the Lord. He knows how to point out the good that is going on even when you don’t think that anything is good. How does He do it? For Him no situation is hopeless. Nothing is helpless. Nothing is impossible. Nothing is broken forever. Nothing is irreversible so He always has hope. What He does is rub His hope off you when He encourages you. Ask for encouragement every day. Look for it by isolating some time to be with God. Look for it by trusting that the Lord has what you need. Look for it in the Word of God. Look for it by believing that God loves you enough to encourage you. God has the words of encouragement you need for every day. Start your day with Him. Start your day open to His voice. He has a lot to tell you and it is all very good. Stay encouraged! The Lord is always with you. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

He must become greater and greater

I love how John talked about Jesus and how he put himself aside so that Jesus would get all the attention. People believed that John might be the Messiah but John insisted that the One who was to come was bigger than him. John was sent to tell the world about the light that was to come. Jesus was that light. John was just a witness who knew that Jesus was Lord. He described Him as Someone who would come after him and who was greater than he was. I can only imagine how people hung onto John’s every word and they might even have been fascinated by him thinking he was a special messenger from God. However, John remained humble and he didn’t change his narrative. He promoted Jesus and exalted Him before men. Even before people saw Him in the flesh. John understood that the Lord had to be lifted up and introduced as the Most Important One. No matter how people perceived him and how much they fed his ego by comparing him to great men of God, John still said he had to decrease so that the Lord could increase. One Bible translation says “He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” What a great attitude! What a great perspective! What a great mindset! I strongly believe that we should follow in John’s steps and walk the way he walked. Walk a humble walk where Jesus increases and we decrease. We should be of the same mindset and do all we can so that Christ in us is bigger than ourselves.

Today I want to encourage you to let Jesus become greater and greater in your life. I want to encourage you to decrease so He can increase. How can you do that? You can make Jesus your priority. You can listen to Him more than you listen to your mind and to your own desires. Let the desires that go against Him die. Don’t nurture them and don’t give them a voice. Stifle the desires that separate you from God. Put your flesh under and let your spirit connect and be in sync with the Holy Spirit. There are daily battles within. There is the battle of the mind and the battle of the flesh. They are intertwined and related. In the Bible we are told to renew our minds and we are informed that our flesh is weak but our spirit is willing. We need to focus on the spiritual and diminish the acts of the flesh. Friend, your spirit longs to see Jesus lifted up. Your spirit wants to honor Jesus. Your spirit wants to give Him first place and repress your flesh. Give yourself a chance to have a stronger spiritual life. Be led by the Spirit of truth. Resist your flesh. Fight against the carnal desires and side with the Lord.

Becoming a fan of Jesus is not a bad thing at all. It is highly recommended and it is a great way to let Him become greater and greater. Many people have all sorts of idols. Many people would do anything to meet their idols. We can meet Jesus every day. We can pray and talk to Him every day. We can put Him on a pedestal and invite Him into our lives every day. He will only become as big in us as we allow Him to be. It is our job to make time for Him and to reverence Him. He won’t force Himself into our days. Our days can be so much better when He is the center of them. I have been learning how to incorporate Jesus into every part of my day and it has been a great journey. He helps me see people differently. He helps me love more. He helps me listen more. He helps me serve more. The more we walk in love, the more we serve others and the more we yield to the directives of the Holy Spirit,  the greater Jesus will be in our lives. Let’s decrease. Let’s increase Jesus every day. Let’s give Him first place and let’s take His Word seriously. He must become greater and greater so we can become less and less. May God bless you and protect you and remember He will always love you!

God can fix your problems

I was getting nuggets of wisdom yesterday and it felt like the Lord was gently bombarding me with words of encouragement that deeply touched me. He spoke about how He can change things instantly. He doesn’t always do it that way but He can. He can change our lives in an instant. He can erase our heavy past and give us His peace and hope. He can reverse the course of time and put us on a better path. One of the nuggets talked about how God can accomplish more in one minute than the devil can ruin in a lifetime. Think about that! Our God is that good. He has the power to do anything. What He does and what He gives is always very amazing. Even when He seems to be working slowly in our lives, He chooses the slower path because it is the best way for us. He knows what He is doing all the time. We are the ones who need to get on His page and respect His pace. God can reverse the worst situations and heal the worst wounds. He can make us smile again and He can make us hope again. Today I want to encourage you to trust God to reverse your current situation. Whatever you are going through right now can be fixed. God can fix all your problems and give you a better life. Trust Him. He is excellent at what He does.

God can fix your problems. He can! He said, “Come to Me those of you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” When you have problems, the first thing God wants to do for you is give you peace. It is very difficult to function without peace and to have a strong spiritual balance when we are weary and burdened. With God, rest comes first because He knows how crucial it is for us. If you are facing problems today, go to God and ask for peace. Ask Him to give you rest. Unload your burdens on Him and let Him carry them. You are not supposed to be carrying these burdens. You are not supposed to fight these battles alone. You are not supposed to live in fear and be weak. You can have strength and you can have the ability to go through whatever you are going through with peace and confidence. Confide in God and He will cover you and bless you. Remember, God will fight your battles. He will take care of you and He will reverse your situation. Don’t do it all alone. You need Him. He is there for you!

God can truly fix any problem you might have. Think of your problems as the Red Sea. They can appear to be gigantic and too much for you to handle. God can still part the seas and He is going to do just that for you. You are like the Israelites. You have enemies. Your problems are your enemies but God will save you from them. He will give you a path to go through your trials without a drop of that troubled sea falling on you. The Egyptians might be trying to attack you now but God is on your side. He is going to fight your battles for you. Find peace in Him. Trust Him. Declare that He is acting on your side. He can change everything just like that. It doesn’t matter how much the enemy has ruined your life. God will fix everything and He will give you even more than you had. He will fix and improve your life. He is that kind of God. He is the God of miracles and nothing can stop Him. Don’t be intimidated by the problems before you. God is with you. Something great is going to happen to you thanks to the Lord. Rejoice. Stay in peace. Stay strong. God is going to win and His love will prevail. Stay encouraged! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Out of this world

There is a warmth out of this world. There is peace out of this world. There is hope out of this world. There is a joy that is out of this world. There is power out of this world. There is love out of this world. There is a truth out of this world. There is freedom out of this world. There is Jesus. Jesus is out of this world and He is also everywhere in this world. Know that you can count on the power that is beyond this world anytime. Know that you can count on the Love that is beyond this world. It is extraordinary. It is beyond your wildest dreams and yet it is real and it is here. Count on Jesus every day. Count on Jesus in every circumstance. Count on His love and on His power. Count on the peace that can set your heart ablaze and that can burn all worries and doubt. Count on the joy that is your strength and that can help you face any trials and tribulations. If I rely on this world to bail me out of my misery, I get disappointed. I fall flat on my face and getting up is not easy. If I rely on Jesus, my Savior, anything that is too hard in this world is not a difficulty anymore. I can’t find peace in this world. I can find a temporary fix but Jesus is my peace. Jesus is the peacemaker who soothes my soul and who keeps my heart warm. I don’t look for answers in worldly paths. My answers are on a divine path I walk on with Jesus. I have made up my mind that the Lord was my Savior and His Spirit is my comforter. They are above all things on the earth and they carry me and help me. The Holy Spirit is more powerful than anyone and anything in this world. I call Him my Comforter out of this world. He is more meaningful than any theory and any doctrine I know. He is more impactful than any religious tradition I know. God cares about you and me friend and He will do things out of this world for us so that we see changes in our worlds. Don’t wait for this world to give you the wisdom and the knowledge you need to get by. All good wisdom comes from above. Your supernatural God will make sure you are led correctly. God is going to take you places that are out of this world, friend!

God’s peace that surpasses all understanding is on your side. You have access to it and you can enjoy it any time in Jesus’ name. It is more powerful than the serenity of this world. It calms the biggest storms and it keeps you still even when the devil is wreaking havoc in your life. God’s joy that is your strength is also at your fingertip. Put your hands together and pray that you can experience His peace. Put your hands together and praise Him. The joy will come when you celebrate the Lord. It will come and inhabit your life. It will come and give you power to handle anything in this life. God is out of this world but He is also in this world like I said. Expect His supernatural power to influence your natural world. Expect His love and mercy to heal you and to bless you. Expect His resurrection power to destroy the works of the enemy on your journey. The cross still stands today as a symbol of death. Death to your sins, to your diseases and to your suffering. Count on the extraordinary power of the cross. Count on God. Out of this world is where your blessings are coming from and they are going to touch your world. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Prayer is a connection

Prayer is such an important part of our spiritual life. Prayer is how we connect with God. Prayer is how we sync with God. Prayer is how to lift up the Lord and we focus less on the world. The Lord said we should decrease so He could increase. We can do that through prayer. Prayer should always be about God first. We should bring our requests to Him through prayer but our prayers shouldn’t be about having our needs met and then about God. God should be first in all we do and that includes prayer.

Did Jesus pray when He was on earth? Absolutely! This indicates that we ought to pray as well. Prayer needs to be a way of life. Prayer should be a habit, a reflex, an everyday occurrence. Like I said, prayer connects us to God and God is almighty. When we pray, we connect to power. We connect to love. We connect to hope. We connect to peace. We connect  to joy. We connect to the impossible made possible. We connect to wisdom. We connect to the truth. We connect to eternal life. We connect to victory. We connect to eternal salvation. We connect to faith. We connect to humbleness. We connect to guidance and counseling. Prayer is a connection that is underrated.

Today I want to encourage you to connect every day. Connect through prayer. Connec to Jesus. Connect to God the Father. Connect to love and hope. Make sure that your daily connection with God exceeds your daily connection to the world. Make sure that Christ in you is exalted and honored. Make sure that God is the One you turn to before you turn to the world. Pray every day. Pray and connect to what you need the most. God knows what you need every day and when you connect with Him, He connects you to what you need the most. Talk to God every day. Give Him a chance to talk first but be sure to talk as well.

Prayer goes hand in hand with faith. The Bible says that without faith we can’t please God. We can’t connect with God if we don’t have faith in Him. Prayer is an expression of faith. When you pray, you are showing that you know God exists and you know He listens. You can start your prayers by thanking God that He is with you, that He speaks to you and that He listens to you. That is a great way to start the connection. Start the connection by recognizing that your Lord is with you and that He will bless you.

When two people connect, there is usually some type of exchange between them. Exchange with God when you pray.Make your requests known but don’t make that your priority. I love to start my connection with God with thanksgiving and praise. That is how I connect the best. The Lord is in the praises of His people and when I praise Him, His presence can be tangible at times. My connection with Him is first about how much I love Him and adore Him. That is how I connect with Him the best.

Prayer is a connection that takes place no matter how we feel and no matter what we think. Prayer is not about emotions and feelings. It is an expression of faith that should happen no matter what is going on in our lives. Do we feel better after prayer? Sometimes and maybe most of the time but we need to learn to pray despite our flesh. We should make that connection with God knowing that He hears us even when we don’t feel it. God loves you so much, friend. He is attentive to your prayers and He loves connecting with you. Connect with Him as much as you can! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

God is talking to you

I didn’t realize for a while that God spoke all the time. I didn’t know we could tune in and hear Him. I used to think that God spoke only in certain circumstances and He was not willing to talk to us that much. In my eyes we were not deserving of hearing from God. I was so wrong. I had been misled. God wants to communicate with us and to be in touch with us all the time. He doesn’t stop talking just because we are not listening. He doesn’t hide and He doesn’t stop revealing Himself to us. We are usually out of sync and we are usually so preoccupied by the voices of the world that we can’t hear God. At this very moment, God is talking to you. At this very moment, God is talking to me. He is always ready to share Himself with us. We are the ones who need to make the effort to listen. We need to be receptive and to be open. Today I want to encourage you to listen to God. I want to remind you that the Lord has messages for you and He can’t wait to hear back from you. God has opened the gates of His heart and He is waiting for you to come in and listen to what He has to say in His beautiful house.

God’s doors are always wide open. He is welcoming all of us and He wants all of us to be comfortable inside the walls of His love. His love speaks. His love invites us and reminds us that we are part of His family. When God speaks, things happen. When God speaks, revelation sets us free. When God speaks, life is imparted to us. I love that we can go to God and feel safe and respected. When I turn to God, I know He is paying attention to me and He cares about what I have to say. Now, I challenge myself and make sure that I listen to Him and pay attention to what He has to say. I interact with Him through His Word. His Word is a safe place where I can hear God’s voice. In His Word, He expresses Himself and He tells me what I need to know. His Word is a powerhouse of wisdom and knowledge and it is an abiding place where His voice resounds and His every word comes coated with love, life and hope. Everything God says comes forth with an amount of love that is out of this world. Everything God says gives life. His words can revive our dead hope and bring us back to faith. Everything God says gives us a boost of hope. Open the Word of God and you will hear the voice of peace talk to you.

Friend, God is speaking to you today. He made his Word available to you so you can have quick access to His mind. He is sharing His mind with you so that you can defeat what is raging against you in your mind. God speaks to you so you can speak against the lies of the enemy. God speaks to you to reassure you and to comfort you. There are words of comfort for you every single day of your life and God will make sure you hear them when you tune in. Tune in by opening the Word. Tune in by spending time in prayer. Tune in by meditating on His Word. Tune in by showing that you have a willing heart and an open mind. God is speaking to you and what you hear Him say is going to blow your mind when you take the time to listen. Pray and ask the Lord to help you hear Him. Pray and ask the Lord to open the eyes of your understanding. Thank God for His voice. Thank God for His words to you. When you are open, you will realize that God will find many ways to speak to you. He can use circumstances, people, visions, dreams,  the fruit of His Spirit and ways that work just for you. Enjoy His voice! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Keep smiling!

The Lord’s smile is wide and bright. He is always smiling. He is always rejoicing and His joy is out of this world. Jesus smiles at everyone. He doesn’t frown and He doesn’t hate anyone. He is the King of love and the King of joy. We need to see Him that way. We need to see Him for who He is. His smile is healing and powerful. Jesus smiles. Yes, He does, friend. Today I want to reinforce the truth that we have a joyful God who wants us to spread His love and His joy. He is looking for people who will let His smile shine through. He wants to smile through you and me. He wants to touch the world with His smile. He desires for everyone to be impacted by His love and you and I can be major contributors to this distribution of love. We ought to keep that spiritual image of our smiling God. Too many people have been introduced to a God who punishes and who segregates. Too many words have been twisted and false doctrines and ideas have been formed despite the reality that Jesus is love. God is smiling today. God is smiling this very minute and someone needs His smile. Someone is looking for His love. Someone could be saved by His smile. We can be the vessels of His love and we can give Jesus a face so the world can see His truth. Let’s be the faces of the Lord. Let’s be the smiles that heal this hurting world.

First it is important that we learn that the Lord smiles at us. It is such a reassuring thought. It is a comforting truth that we should carry in our hearts. He is constantly smiling and inviting us into His joyful realm. When we are down, He smiles to bring us back to joy. When we are happy, He smiles and joins in our happiness. God smiles and everything changes. I have had many instances when I was a bit discouraged and during prayer I saw the Lord’s smile. I didn’t literally see His face but He showed me He was smiling by comforting me and giving me a major dose of hope. His smile is contagious. His smile is very special. His smile spells out love. His smile can change our moods and our days just like that. God doesn’t intend for any of us to be sad but life happens and circumstances can steal our smiles. However, for every stolen smile, there is a smile from Heaven that can make us forget the pain and suffering. Like the Bible says, “A glad heart makes a cheerful face” and God’s heart is definitely glad and His face is cheerful. Remember that He is smiling at you now because He loves you and rejoices over you all the time. There is nothing you can do that will make God stop loving you and smiling at you.

You probably know people who can use a smile today. You probably know people who are distraught and discouraged. They need the Lord’s smile. They need the power of His smile and you can help spread His cheer and bring peace back into those people’s lives. Keep smiling, friend! Keep embracing the Lord’s love and joy and keep spreading the peace. Your smile is crucial because it can make someone’s day. It is significant because it represents Jesus and it can be the only Jesus some people will ever know. Your smile matters. The Lord in you matters and people are longing to meet Him.
