Eyes on Me

When kids are not paying attention in class and they are being disruptive, some teachers tell them, “Eyes on me.” By saying that they are getting the kids’ attention and they are helping them refocused. Sometimes kids have side conversations and they are distracted. “Eyes on me” brings them back to where they should be. This makes me think of what the Lord is telling us all the time. He is saying, “Eyes on Me” when life gets in the way and we can’t focus on Him. He is saying, “Eyes on Me” when we get too distracted to remember that He is God and that He has our back. When we lose our focus on Jesus and we panic, He is saying, “Eyes on Me.” When we have side conversations and all we can think about is what we see, He is saying, “Eyes on Me.” Our side conversations can be expressions of doubt, complaints, gossiping or anything that is not pleasant to God. Can you think of some side conversations that you have on a daily basis? I can think of a few in my life. I am working on stopping them before they happen. I don’t want to speak doubt or complain. Those conversations don’t help me spiritually. They don’t serve me and they don’t help me grow. I want to keep my eyes on Jesus and not pay attention to the turmoil around me. We can’t avoid seeing what is going on in our lives but we should keep our eyes on the One who can change our lives.

Today I want to encourage you to listen to the Lord who is telling you, “Eyes on Me.” The Bible invites us to walk by faith and not by sight. Our sight is powerful. It connects us to the world and we makes sense of what is going on through our sight. God wants us to have a different approach. He tells us to apprehend the world through our faith. He wants us to use our faith in order to see the world. Our eyes of faith should be bigger than our physical eyes. Our eyes should see Jesus as being stronger and better than what the world presents to us. In this world we will have trials and tribulations and we can see their effects on our lives. However, Jesus has conquered the world. We ought to see the effects He has on our world more than the havoc the enemy is wreaking in our lives. Jesus is the filter through which we should see everything. When bills are piling up, our eyes should be on Jesus who can move any mountains including the mountains of debt. He said that our faith can do anything. Our faith in Him can move any mountains. Let’s keep our eyes on Him and activate the mountain moving power that we were given. Faith is the power that defeats all problems. Jesus is the author of our faith. Let’s keep our eyes on the author because He can rewrite any bad stories life deals us.

Walking by faith and not by sight is not trusting our senses more than our God. You could replace sight by hearing for instance. Don’t walk by what you hear but walk by faith. Many times fear and doubt come from what we hear. We hear some bad news. We hear that the economy is bad. We hear that many people are sick. What we hear can be powerfully disturbing. No matter what we hear, our eyes should still be on Jesus. No matter what we hear, we should give priority to the Word of faith. Faith comes from hearing and hearing from the Word of God. Let’s not have faith in the horror stories of the world. Let’s tune them out and let’s stay tuned on the Word of God. Daily Bible reading and studying is important. What God says in His Word is gold. We should value His gold more than the silver of the world. Friend, I understand that things might be looking bad for you right now but I guarantee you that if you keep your eyes on Jesus, things will start looking better. Continue to turn to Him. Look at what He did in His Word. He can still do it today in your life and more. Walk by faith in Jesus and not by the sights of the world. Your faith in Jesus can conquer any trials and tribulations in your life. Stay encouraged! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

3 practical practices

When I was praying yesterday morning, the Lord guided me through a meditation about some of the tools He gives us. He said that He has equipped His people with some great tools that we don’t always use. I want to be actively involved in the use of those tools. They are meant to help us lead a successful Christian life. God cares so much about us that He would never leave us without any defenses and without any means of dealing with this life. It is sad when we live our lives in Christ thinking that we have to fend for ourselves and we don’t do anything to keep up with the blessings and with the wonderful life Jesus provided for us. There are several tools that are wonderful practices but today I am going to focus on three of them; the practice of positive confession, the practice of prayer and the practice of praise.

There is power in what we say. The Bible tells us that the tongue has the power of life and death. What we say matters. What we say can influence our lives in a good way or in a bad way. We are encouraged to renew our minds. We can do that with the Word of God and with the Holy Spirit. It is important to keep our minds focused on the Lord so that what we say is positive. What we think about the most, we end up talking about. It is crucial that we fill our minds with the words of the Lord. His words should be our words. We don’t have to repeat what He says verbatim even though it is a great habit to have. However, we should speak in agreement with His Word. We should always be positive in what we say. We should be the people who believe in being positive and who always have something nice, pure and noble to say. Our words should shed a positive light in the world around us. If we always talk about how bad things are, if we are always complaining or gossiping, we are not being good stewards of what the Lord gave us. He gave us hope, love, life, joy, peace and other great things. They should be reflected in what we say. Positive confession is a practice that bears good fruit. Sometimes I use it to counteract the thoughts in my mind. Speak positively every day. Speak like Jesus would and you will be in line with His blessings for your life.

Jesus prayed so we should definitely pray. I have written a lot about prayer and I will continue because it is one of the most significant tools we were given. The Holy Spirit is the One who helps us pray. Every time you think you should pray, it’s the Holy Spirit inspiring you. Every time you pray, He is assisting you. You don’t have to be eloquent. You just have to open your heart and pray. You have to be receptive and to be attentive because the Lord has a lot to say and you should expect to hear from Him during prayer time. Prayer is one of the two most powerful tools in my life. I love it and I can’t live without it. Once you get used to it, you fly with it. The Holy Spirit prays with us and that is a beautiful experience. Pray like Jesus. Follow what He says about prayer. Worship the Lord first. Repent, forgive, celebrate Jesus, pray for others, make your personal requests known and thank the Lord in advance. Pray with faith and love. Pray for your world. Pray for the world. Pray for others every single day. Your prayers matter. Your prayers are heard. Believe that. You can pray in Jesus’ name and make a change in this world. Keep that practice going. Pray despite your circumstances.

When you pray, it is good to enter the gates of the Lord with praise and worship. Now, praise and worship can take place any time of the day and they should actually be a part of what we do every day. We should be people of praise. We should sing to the Lord with our voices and with our hearts. Praise is not always a song. It can be a thought, a sentence, an action, a deed. Praise lifts up Jesus. Praise recognizes that Jesus is King. Praise is powerful. When everything is dark around us, the practice of praise brings back the sun. It brings back hope and joy. Praise is the other most powerful tool in my life. It changed my life because it showed me that Jesus was my life and that I had a great life through Him. Praise made me aware of Jesus and it has opened my eyes to the truth that nothing, absolutely nothing is impossible with Him. If you can’t pray, start with praise. Praise will usher your spirit into a state of prayer and reverence. I praise before I pray. Actually praise is part of my prayers every single time. I also enjoy praising the Lord throughout the day. I try my best through my actions but I also spend time singing to Him and declaring His majesty. When His glory comes down, the praise sessions are even more powerful. Keep the practice of praise going all the time. Praise will break the power of the enemy in your life and open the heavenly gates. Praise away!

Use the tools of the Lord all the time. Ask Him to reveal more to you. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Life with Jesus

I am here to boost your faith in Jesus. I am here to praise Him along with you. I am here to walk the walk and talk the talk so you can hear Him and you can step into His path. There is no one greater than Jesus and I could write about Him all the time. All encouragement should be centered around Him. He is marvelous. He is awesome. He is unique. He is loving and He is faithful. I have never met anyone like Jesus and my prayer is that He becomes extremely real to you. The world has a lot to offer but the Lord is much better than all the treasures of the world. I pray that you see the riches that are in Jesus. His name alone is worth all the money in the world. His name alone is more powerful than all the names of the people in the world. Jesus is the Savior and we can be with Him every single day if we choose to follow Him. Follow the Lord. Stand by His side because He is always with you. He never ever abandons you. Life with Him is worth it. Life with Jesus is the best life you can have. It doesn’t mean that your life will be easy but it means that you are immensely blessed. He is the Blessing. He is the best of the best. May Jesus be your Lord. May you accept Him fully and may you be invested in Him fully.

There are so many things I want in this life but the one thing that matters the most is having a strong relationship with Jesus. I want no gaps between Him and me. The world gets in the way very easily. It is up to me to bridge the gaps and to remove the distractions. The enemy will always try to distract us and to keep us busy so we can’t spend time with Jesus. We can outsmart him. Yes, friend we can. Not in our own power but in the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus gave us His Spirit so we wouldn’t be dealing with the enemy alone. We have power. We have the ability to stay close to Jesus when we walk hand in hand with His Spirit and we relentlessly work on making Him our priority. This means that we have to turn down the world sometimes. When the world wants to serve us a dose of worldly pleasures and entertainment, we ought to choose Jesus. Choosing Him over temptation and distractions is something we can achieve thanks to His Spirit. His Spirit always takes us to Jesus and if we pay attention to His direction, we stay on the right path. There is just one path that is important and it is the path we can walk with the Lord. Life with Jesus is out of this world. We are in this world but we have an out of this world calling and journey. Let’s walk with the Savior. Let’s live through Him. Let’s revive our passion for Him when it is extinguished by the worries of the world.

Life with Jesus means that we imitate Him and we are touched by His love. We can’t walk with Jesus and not walk in love. If love is missing in our walk, we need to take a moment and reevaluate our faith. Faith without love doesn’t work well. Love for Jesus and love for our neighbors is a powerful combination. It is a divine power that makes everything possible. Remember that when Jesus was on earth He always walked in love. Love performed miracles. Love saved. Love healed. Love cared. Love provided peace. Love brought joy. Life with Jesus is all these great things and it doesn’t stop showing love. It stays filled with love even around those people we think are hard to love. Life with Jesus is life that defies hate and discrimination. Life with Jesus is a life of freedom that the world can’t know unless it has Jesus in its midst. Join me in praising Jesus today and always. Don’t let your circumstances keep you from lifting Him up. Your life with the Lord is the best life ever. Enjoy it. Enjoy Him! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He always loves you!

Don’t get discouraged

When we are facing difficulties, we can either keep going or we can give up. There is an in-between area where we don’t know what to do and we leave it to chance to take care of the situation. There are really two sides; the side of the ones who persevere and the side of the ones who throw in the towel. I have visited the “towel” side way too many times in my life before I encountered Jesus. The encounter changed my life in many ways and one of the ways it has impacted me is that it showed me that I should never give up. I have Jesus. Why should I give up when I have the Savior on my side? There are  many accounts in the Bible of people who decided not to give up. People who walked in faith and didn’t care that people around them didn’t make it. They knew that with the Lord they could make it. David is one of those people who took residence on the side of those who persevered. He said a thousand may fall at his side, ten thousand at his right side, it will not come near him. He knew that the Lord would fight his battles and he should never get discouraged. He persevered and he kept going. Today I want to encourage you to keep going. Don’t give up. Don’t get discouraged. Things might be falling apart around you and inside of you but the Lord your God will mend you and He will fix everything around you. Stay in the camp of those who persevere. Your faith will be greatly rewarded!

“Don’t give up” is what I hear deep down inside when I get into prayer during difficult times. Giving up would be so easy. Giving up would almost be a relief but it wouldn’t help. It wouldn’t make things better. We are not called to be under but to be over. God is on top of everything and He is pulling us up to His side. He didn’t send His Son so we would be victims. He didn’t send Jesus for nothing. He sent Him to redeem the world, to save us and to give us life in abundance. Giving up is not recognizing that we have a life of abundance in the Lord. Giving up is saying that Jesus didn’t fulfil what He came to do. Giving up is removing ourselves from the blessings of the Lord. Giving up is showing that our faith is not strong enough when in reality it is. Giving up is letting the enemy win and giving him permission to manifest his lies in our lives. Giving up is forgetting that we are made the righteousness of God and we are more than conquerors. Let’s fight against the discouragement that assails us and that leads us to give up. Let’s stand in faith and let’s persevere. We are in good company. Many before us have kept going. Many believers are not giving up today. We have the same Jesus and the same power backing us up!

Don’t give up, friend. The road ahead of you will be paved with breakthroughs and blessings when trust in the Lord. Nothing is impossible with God and your current situation will change. It is going to change in the name of Jesus. Keep believing! Keep trusting! God works everything out for the best and He takes good care of His children. You are a child of God. You are protected and you are more blessed than you know. The Lord is fighting for you. He is going before you and He is going to do some amazing things for you. Put all your faith in Jesus and you are guaranteed to win and to make it. You are an overcomer in the name of Jesus. No situation that comes against you will destroy you. Don’t give up! Don’t get discouraged! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

God can fix your problems

I was getting nuggets of wisdom yesterday and it felt like the Lord was gently bombarding me with words of encouragement that deeply touched me. He spoke about how He can change things instantly. He doesn’t always do it that way but He can. He can change our lives in an instant. He can erase our heavy past and give us His peace and hope. He can reverse the course of time and put us on a better path. One of the nuggets talked about how God can accomplish more in one minute than the devil can ruin in a lifetime. Think about that! Our God is that good. He has the power to do anything. What He does and what He gives is always very amazing. Even when He seems to be working slowly in our lives, He chooses the slower path because it is the best way for us. He knows what He is doing all the time. We are the ones who need to get on His page and respect His pace. God can reverse the worst situations and heal the worst wounds. He can make us smile again and He can make us hope again. Today I want to encourage you to trust God to reverse your current situation. Whatever you are going through right now can be fixed. God can fix all your problems and give you a better life. Trust Him. He is excellent at what He does.

God can fix your problems. He can! He said, “Come to Me those of you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” When you have problems, the first thing God wants to do for you is give you peace. It is very difficult to function without peace and to have a strong spiritual balance when we are weary and burdened. With God, rest comes first because He knows how crucial it is for us. If you are facing problems today, go to God and ask for peace. Ask Him to give you rest. Unload your burdens on Him and let Him carry them. You are not supposed to be carrying these burdens. You are not supposed to fight these battles alone. You are not supposed to live in fear and be weak. You can have strength and you can have the ability to go through whatever you are going through with peace and confidence. Confide in God and He will cover you and bless you. Remember, God will fight your battles. He will take care of you and He will reverse your situation. Don’t do it all alone. You need Him. He is there for you!

God can truly fix any problem you might have. Think of your problems as the Red Sea. They can appear to be gigantic and too much for you to handle. God can still part the seas and He is going to do just that for you. You are like the Israelites. You have enemies. Your problems are your enemies but God will save you from them. He will give you a path to go through your trials without a drop of that troubled sea falling on you. The Egyptians might be trying to attack you now but God is on your side. He is going to fight your battles for you. Find peace in Him. Trust Him. Declare that He is acting on your side. He can change everything just like that. It doesn’t matter how much the enemy has ruined your life. God will fix everything and He will give you even more than you had. He will fix and improve your life. He is that kind of God. He is the God of miracles and nothing can stop Him. Don’t be intimidated by the problems before you. God is with you. Something great is going to happen to you thanks to the Lord. Rejoice. Stay in peace. Stay strong. God is going to win and His love will prevail. Stay encouraged! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

No matter what, you still have God

If I could edit my life and delete some chapters, I would. However, I will never remove what led me to Christ and my encounter with Him. It was a long time ago. I was a teenager. What I remember the most is that hope entered my life when Jesus became my Savior. I saw the light of hope. I saw something different. My spirit changed and my mind was positively impacted. I remember thinking that my future was bright and the devil was going to stop messing up with me and with my family. I was right about a bright future. I was wrong about the enemy. As a young Christian, I believed that once you get saved you have blessings after blessings and no trials and no tribulations. I was wrong and God helped me understand the truth. Believers have tons of problems.

Believers can be persecuted and treated very poorly. Believers are not immune to the attacks of the enemy. Believers are prime targets. Believers can suffer a lot but believers have Jesus. We have Jesus. We will always have hope and always have solutions and a way out of our misery. God will always prevail. No matter what we go through, God will always win if we stay in faith. As a young Christian, I didn’t know much about faith. It sounded like something very hard and tedious. Then I found out that because I believed in Jesus I had faith. It was as simple as that. I had a tiny mustard seed of faith but I had faith. Now, the Lord taught me that it is my faith that moves His hand in my favor and I should hold on to faith, develop it, let it grow and persevere.

Today I want to remind you that the Jesus who saved you is still with you and He can still bless you. As a matter of fact, He is an expert when it comes to blessings, deliverance, freedom, peace and victory. Look at Jesus today. Keep your eyes on Him. He will stand by you through trials and tribulations. He never said that this life would be easy but He said He had conquered the world. Your current problems are part of what Jesus conquered. Thank Him for the victory. Praise Him for setting you free. Speak with faith about your situation. Know that it is taken care of and Jesus did what needed to be done. I know the enemy is probably whispering lies into your mind telling you that nothing can save you and things will never get better. He is a liar. Tune him out by turning up the praises. Let your praises be louder than the fears that are creeping into your head. Jesus did it all. You are not going to fail and you are not going to be in this predicament forever. Don’t lose hope and don’t focus on your difficulties. Open your Bible and your eyes of faith will be wide open. Your situation is not hopeless!

The Lord is a permanent fixture in your life. People come and go. Situations change. Events come and go but Jesus stays. He hasn’t left your side. He hasn’t given up. He hasn’t vanished. His love is there for you. His presence is intense even when you don’t sense it. That is why the enemy is afraid of you because of Jesus in you. He is very afraid but he also knows that you are not always tapping into your relationship with Jesus  and your faith in Him wavers. The enemy takes advantage of any small crack and he puts his nonsense into you through the small aperture. Plug the holes of doubt with the Word of God. Every time doubt talks to you, talk back with Scriptures. Remind yourself that Jesus is with you and that He will always prevail. Yes, you will have problems in this world. No one can avoid them but the Lord will help you overcome them. Present every problem to God. He will assist you and bless you. God can always help and that is something very important for you to remember. Your problems will try to tell you how big they are and you have to tell them how big your God is. No matter what, you still have God. Stay encouraged! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

God brought you this far

God brought you this far. He is not going to let you down. He is not going to drop you. He is not going to leave you stranded. He will finish the good work He started in you. He will finish the good work in your life. Don’t give up! God is still working with you. God is still working on your situation. Keep the faith! There are some great things coming your way because God is making a way where you thought there was no way. It sounds cliche but it also sounds like Jesus. That is what He will always say. He will always say that He is way, the truth and the life. When you have Him, you always find your way out of trouble. You always have hope of better days. Those better days are not too far. Hold on a little longer. Show your faith longer. I understand that obstacles and hurdles seem to be all over the place and you can’t see good things in your future. Just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean that they are not ahead of you. Jesus has gone before you and He has laid out everything you need and He will provide for you. Don’t look at what you don’t have. In Him you have all you need. There are blessings today that might be invisible to you but with faith they can be revealed. God is by your side and He is going to take you places you had never thought existed. He brought you this far and He will guide you to a destination that is so peaceful and so good that it will blow your mind and surpass your understanding. God is not done blessing you. He is not done carrying you!

When I look back and see how far I have come I can’t help but thank the Lord. He is the One who has made so many things possible in my life. I have a better awareness of His work in my life and of His plan. Good things in my life have not been coincidences or luck. It’s been Jesus all along and He is here to stay. I know that when things get complicated and difficult, we are under the impression that God is done. We feel like He has left and He has moved on to other people. That is not how God is. In His Word He promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us. He also said that He was the same yesterday, today and forever. Your future is still in His hands. Your present is blessed by His presence. God doesn’t give up. God doesn’t turn around when He sees difficulties on the way. He destroys what tries to destroy us. God has the ability to do the incredible and to do the less expected. Faith connects us to Him and it gives us the hope and confidence that God is sovereign all the time. Express your faith today. Tell yourself that God is still God and that He has brought you this far and He will get you to the finish line. There is nothing to fear and nothing to be worried about. Worry won’t move you forward. It will always stall you and hurt you.

I have no idea what you are going through today. I am telling you to keep the faith and you might think that it is a tall order. You feel like you have given your best to this thing called faith and you have run out of it. Look to Jesus. He is the author of your faith. Faith is in His power, His truth, His love, His abilities, His sovereignty, and His omnipotence. You are not trying to have faith in your ability to make things happen. Your faith is exalting the One who died for the world and who came back to life. Revive your vision of Jesus. Go back to His Word. Read about Him. Read Him. Revisit Him. Relearn Him. He is the deliverer, the ruler of the universe and the King of kings. He wants you to stay in fellowship with Him and trust that your journey is not over. He is with you on the journey and He created this journey for you. Think about that! He made this plan just for you and He will see it through. You have made it this far thanks to Jesus and He is going to help you finish this amazing adventure. Keep your hopes up. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Give God the time of day

This message may sound like something I have written before. I believe it is important to reinforce its content and talk about saving time for God every day. “Saving time” makes it sound like we are giving God our leftovers and we are prioritizing other things. I know God should come first and I am sure you are on the same page but doesn’t it sometimes feel like you are actually saving time for God meaning that you don’t let Him come first? When I am very busy, I do my best to make God fit into my schedule. I don’t like that process. It cheapens my relationship with God. He should be the first One on my priority list and my schedule should be built around Him. I have changed my schedule recently to be able to give God more of my time. I start the day with God like I have been doing for many years. The difference is that I go to bed earlier so that the first few hours in the morning with God are more productive. Going to bed late and then getting up early to be with God is better than nothing but it is hard to spend quality time with God when we didn’t have a quality night of sleep. We should be awake and alert for God. When we are, we are more receptive to Him and we can give more of ourselves to God. Giving God the time of day is giving Him of ourselves. It goes beyond giving Him some of our time. When we are spending time with Him, we become more like Him and that is when we can touch the world with His love and with His amazing traits. We spend time with God because we love Him and we want to be more like Him. We don’t do it to check boxes and go on with our day. Our precious time with the Lord is a time of rebuilding, restoring and learning. What we gain from those beautiful moments should be used to serve others. Give God the time of day and He will impact your day in a powerful way.

God’s impact on my life has been life changing and it motivates me to talk about Him and to spread the Gospel the best way I can. I love that when I am with God in a private setting, He shares His heart and pours blessings in the form of wisdom and revelation. One of the biggest revelations I receive is that He loves me. I love hearing His love and sensing His comforting presence. God wants us to spend time with Him because He knows that His love can heal us, bless us and transform us. We can’t spend time with God and not receive something positive from Him. The key is to make the time all the time. The key is to make Him the priority and to understand that time with Him is always time well-spent. We are never wasting time and we are never doing the wrong thing. I remember I used to feel that if I spent time with God I was missing out. I was missing out on the world and I was an outsider. Now, I would rather be an outsider with God than being part of an elite that doesn’t know anything about God. Every time I pray, every time I praise, I am doing God’s will and I love doing His will. The time I spend with God lifts me up and encourages me. God gives us His time all the time so we should truly give Him the time of day and let Him know that He can use us in whichever way He likes.

Giving time to God is also translated by the moments we serve as a vessel of His love. Time with God is not just time in prayer but it is also every moment we give Him permission to use us and we submit to Him. We ought be not only be servants of the living God but we should also serve others. Every time we help someone, we give time to God. Every time we walk in love, we give time to God. Every time we encourage or motivate someone, we give time to God. Everything that is pure and noble is of God. Every action that is pure and noble is an action backed up by God. God can back us up in all we do when all we do is for Him and through Him. During my morning time with God, I plan my day and at times He tells me to bless so and so or to help so and so. God will always point us in His direction by telling us to do something He would do. We can be great imitators of the Lord when we give Him the time of day. My prayer for you is that God is the priority in your schedule and you see the impact of time spent with Him when you walk in love and you yield to His Spirit. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Expect God every day

I love the start of a new week. I love new beginnings. I love new days, new weeks, new months and new years. However, I don’t wait for a new start to challenge myself or to trust that God can do something different in my life. Yes, He is the God of new beginnings and His mercies are new every day. I am so thankful for that and I praise the Lord for His new mercies. I do believe that God can act at any point in my life and I don’t have to wait for a new day or a new year to have great expectations. I expect God all the time. I expect Him to act on my behalf any time. I expect His blessings to follow me wherever I go and whenever. I don’t have to wait around for something new to happen. God is here now. His love is here now. His power is here now. His blessings are here now. You and I have the creator of the universe on our sides and He loves to bless us. I know that if we have faith in His blessings, they will flood our lives. God loves us more than we know and He wants rivers of blessings to be present in our lives. We need to learn how to flow with that truth so that we embark on the boat of joy and peace that floats on His rivers of blessings. Today could be a new beginning for you. Today could be the day you begin to trust that God wants you to be blessed all the time. I encourage you to expect God any time of the day and any day of the week.

I remember loving Sundays as a teenager because I could go to church. I used to go far to attend a church where I found what I needed at the time spiritually. I basically lived for Sundays. I knew I would encounter God on that day and I loved how my Sundays gave me the strength to face the new week. I had the wrong approach. I put God in the “Sunday box.” He was limited in my mind because He could only show up in my life on Sunday. I had a vision of a limited God that I could truly only interact with on Sunday. My Sundays with God helped me deal with Monday. At least with part of Monday because by the end of Monday I was usually back to my old defeated self. Did I pray during the week? I did but my prayers were rot and they sounded rehearsed. I didn’t know how to connect with God outside of Sundays. I didn’t except God during the week other than some ripple effects from my Sunday worship and prayer time. We should expect God all the time, friend. Sundays are great days to praise the Lord but so are all the other days of the week. We can expect God’s peace every day. We can expect God’s joy every day. We can expect God’s blessings all the time. We should expect God at all times.

I saw a big shift in my spiritual life when I decided to praise the Lord on a daily basis. I remember actually starting doing that on a Monday. I held my own private praise and prayer sessions in the morning and at night. I brought church home so to speak and within a few days, I had encounters with the presence of the Lord. He visited me every day and I was open to His love and His direction. The Holy Spirit opened the eyes of my spirit and I was all about Jesus. I expected the Lord to inhabit my praises all the time. I read my Bible every day. I prayed a lot more and I established a beautiful relationship with the Lord. I expected Him to be the God of the Bible 24/7 and that is what happened. I had dreams, visions, bouts of joy and peace and I was addicted to Jesus. I expected Him to bless me every day and to help me deal with every single day. I knew that problems would still arise but I expected God to give me the victory. Today I still expect God every day. I still pray and worship all the time and it makes my life so much better. God is not just here on Sunday. Expect Him every day, dear friend. It will change your life for the better. Expect God’s blessings all the time. Ride the waves of His peace every single day. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Deal with your head with Jesus

The other day I was very tired from a trip I had been on and overthinking was strong in my mind. At the same time “God thinking” was also strong. It was a tug o war between negative and positive thinking in my head. On one side I kept hearing, “What if this happens? How are you going to deal with this and that? How will you handle this?” On the other side the Holy Spirit in me was saying “You have Jesus so you have all you need.”

My mind was getting overloaded with the questions of the enemy and the doubt he was trying to instill in me. I decided to take what the Spirit was giving me and use it to tear down the lies of the enemy. The Holy Spirit suggested to deal with everything with Jesus. I spent time meditating on that. Here He was saying “Deal with your head with Jesus.” He recommended to face every lie and every doubt with the power of Jesus. How do we do that?

We need to tackle that inner dialogue and handle it with God’s care. It’s easy to let overthinking get out of control. It’s easy to go with the flow of those thoughts and end up stressed and defeated. I knew that the Lord didn’t want me to overthink and He didn’t want me to be passive. I couldn’t let myself be a victim here. I had to do something. Dealing with the negative chatter with Jesus was my best bet.

What I did was respond to the negative thoughts. That is how we should deal with them. My responses were verbal and they all involved Jesus. I inserted Jesus in everything I said. I used the Scriptures to silence the enemy. When Jesus was in the desert and the devil tempted Him, He responded with the Word of God. That is how, we believers, can face every lie and doubt by speaking Jesus against them. Jesus is the Word and there is power, wonder-working power in Him.

Some of the negative thoughts were about my new job and my finances. I told those thoughts that the Lord would supply all my needs according to His riches in glory. I declared that Jesus got me this far and He wasn’t about to leave me. I explained that Jesus is all I need and as I serve Him, He takes care of me. I had to respond with Jesus over and over again until I gave my faith a boost and He appeared to be bigger than the doubts. I pushed Jesus against the lies. There was spiritual and mental friction going on and you know the Lord always wins. I kept it up for a while until I was anchored in the truth that I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Jesus helped me won that mental battle.

The goal is to put Jesus between the negativity and ourselves and always resort to Him. Friend, if you are being dragged down the aisles of despair in your mind, deal with the bad thoughts with Jesus. Let Him be the response you give the enemy. Jesus is your shield and your protection. He will help you deal with anything. Stay strong and stay encouraged in Him. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!
