God is in control

“God is in control and He cannot fail.” This powerful declaration is what I want you to use all day. I want you to say it boldly when you are doing well and when worry is attacking you. You have nothing to worry about because you have the Lord. It is easier said than done at times but it is the ultimate truth. We get so used to worrying that we almost find it comforting. It doesn’t seem normal not to worry. We use the excuse that we are human after all. Yes, we are human and worry is part of our human DNA but greater is the One who lives in us than all the worries of the world. When we let worry dominate our thinking, we go back to our old ways. We are new creatures in Christ and as born again believers, we are blessed with the presence of the Holy Spirit in us. Now, we have to live our lives with the awareness of the Spirit in us and we need to let go of our old thinking patterns. We are encouraged to renew our minds. That is an ongoing process. We can’t be soft when it comes to our thinking. We should be alert and we should keep working on it. When we say that God is in control and He can never fail, we are pushing worry away and we are remodeling our thinking. There is not enough room for God and for worry in our heads. That is how we should look at the situation. One of the two will take up more space than the other. Let it be God. Let it be God all the time. We can win the battle of the mind when we constantly put God first and declare His majesty and power over everything.

God is in control. He knows exactly what He is doing. He can do all things. He has an amazing plan for all of us. His plan is for us to have life and to have it in abundance. Think about all the good things God has done for you. Think about the peace, the love, the joy and the faith He wants you to experience. Yes, you can have faith. Faith is one of the desires of God for your life. He wants you to walk in faith all the time. Faith pleases God. Faith connects you to God. Faith shows you God. Faith reminds you over and over that God is in control. Faith is one of your best friends. Hang out with faith. Spend a lot of time with Jesus and your faith will get stronger. Time spent with the Lord means time spent away from worry. There is this one praise song, there is this one prayer that can dissipate all fear and encourage you in the Lord. God is in control and you don’t have to try to figure everything out. He has the solution to all your problems. He has the perfect setup for your next miracle. He can move things around so you can find peace in the middle of confusion. His hand can reach you wherever you are. He is in control all the time and everywhere. There is more that He can do than you will ever imagine. Stretch your faith. Stretch your thinking. Declare with boldness that God can do all things. Declare with boldness that nothing can get in His way. Declare with boldness that God is going to make a way for you today. There is nothing to worry about!

God cannot fail. Do you know how many times I have failed in my life? Too many times to count. As a kid I used to fail Math tests from time to time and I was very discouraged. Those Math problems didn’t make sense to me. Those equations were too difficult to solve. God can solve all problems. God makes us win. He takes our failures and turns them into successes. God is a master at doing things right. When we give Him the pen, He writes beautiful paragraphs into our lives. When we give Him control, He makes everything perfect. All He asks is that you and I trust that He is in control and that His ways are higher than our ways. Worry doesn’t help. Worry doesn’t move the hand of God. Worry doesn’t get us closer to God. Worry clouds our judgment and it prevents us from hearing from God and from receiving from God. Attack your worries and fears with the Word of God. Be relentless. Keep speaking God’s sovereignty over your life. You have nothing to fear. God is in the house and He has closed the door so the enemy can’t get in. Believe Him. He is keeping you safe and He is pouring blessings into your life. Stay encouraged! May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

3 practical practices

When I was praying yesterday morning, the Lord guided me through a meditation about some of the tools He gives us. He said that He has equipped His people with some great tools that we don’t always use. I want to be actively involved in the use of those tools. They are meant to help us lead a successful Christian life. God cares so much about us that He would never leave us without any defenses and without any means of dealing with this life. It is sad when we live our lives in Christ thinking that we have to fend for ourselves and we don’t do anything to keep up with the blessings and with the wonderful life Jesus provided for us. There are several tools that are wonderful practices but today I am going to focus on three of them; the practice of positive confession, the practice of prayer and the practice of praise.

THE PRACTICE OF POSITIVE CONFESSION

There is power in what we say. The Bible tells us that the tongue has the power of life and death. What we say matters. What we say can influence our lives in a good way or in a bad way. We are encouraged to renew our minds. We can do that with the Word of God and with the Holy Spirit. It is important to keep our minds focused on the Lord so that what we say is positive. What we think about the most, we end up talking about. It is crucial that we fill our minds with the words of the Lord. His words should be our words. We don’t have to repeat what He says verbatim even though it is a great habit to have. However, we should speak in agreement with His Word. We should always be positive in what we say. We should be the people who believe in being positive and who always have something nice, pure and noble to say. Our words should shed a positive light in the world around us. If we always talk about how bad things are, if we are always complaining or gossiping, we are not being good stewards of what the Lord gave us. He gave us hope, love, life, joy, peace and other great things. They should be reflected in what we say. Positive confession is a practice that bears good fruit. Sometimes I use it to counteract the thoughts in my mind. Speak positively every day. Speak like Jesus would and you will be in line with His blessings for your life.

THE PRACTICE OF PRAYER

Jesus prayed so we should definitely pray. I have written a lot about prayer and I will continue because it is one of the most significant tools we were given. The Holy Spirit is the One who helps us pray. Every time you think you should pray, it’s the Holy Spirit inspiring you. Every time you pray, He is assisting you. You don’t have to be eloquent. You just have to open your heart and pray. You have to be receptive and to be attentive because the Lord has a lot to say and you should expect to hear from Him during prayer time. Prayer is one of the two most powerful tools in my life. I love it and I can’t live without it. Once you get used to it, you fly with it. The Holy Spirit prays with us and that is a beautiful experience. Pray like Jesus. Follow what He says about prayer. Worship the Lord first. Repent, forgive, celebrate Jesus, pray for others, make your personal requests known and thank the Lord in advance. Pray with faith and love. Pray for your world. Pray for the world. Pray for others every single day. Your prayers matter. Your prayers are heard. Believe that. You can pray in Jesus’ name and make a change in this world. Keep that practice going. Pray despite your circumstances.

THE PRACTICE OF PRAISE

When you pray, it is good to enter the gates of the Lord with praise and worship. Now, praise and worship can take place any time of the day and they should actually be a part of what we do every day. We should be people of praise. We should sing to the Lord with our voices and with our hearts. Praise is not always a song. It can be a thought, a sentence, an action, a deed. Praise lifts up Jesus. Praise recognizes that Jesus is King. Praise is powerful. When everything is dark around us, the practice of praise brings back the sun. It brings back hope and joy. Praise is the other most powerful tool in my life. It changed my life because it showed me that Jesus was my life and that I had a great life through Him. Praise made me aware of Jesus and it has opened my eyes to the truth that nothing, absolutely nothing is impossible with Him. If you can’t pray, start with praise. Praise will usher your spirit into a state of prayer and reverence. I praise before I pray. Actually praise is part of my prayers every single time. I also enjoy praising the Lord throughout the day. I try my best through my actions but I also spend time singing to Him and declaring His majesty. When His glory comes down, the praise sessions are even more powerful. Keep the practice of praise going all the time. Praise will break the power of the enemy in your life and open the heavenly gates. Praise away!

Use the tools of the Lord all the time. Ask Him to reveal more to you. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

Keep the praises going

Many years ago I learned a very precious lesson that I resort to very often. It came as one of those sweet whispers from the Holy Spirit. It was a light suggestion that was dropped in my spirit. One of those comments from God that can easily be missed. I was going through a lot. I was starting my career and I didn’t have much. I had very little money but I was not worried because I felt so much peace and comfort in the Lord until fatigue hit me. Every time I got tired, I felt like I had lost my grip on faith. I felt like the hope I had was attacked and I had to do something to avoid falling into the trap of doubt and fear. The first thing I tried was to go to bed. It helped a lot. Going to bed and not trying to figure things out made a difference. However, one day I heard the kind voice of the Lord. He said very softly, “Keep the praises going.” I had been spending a lot of time praising the Lord. I found praise to be an amazing time. It was during those moments of praise that I experienced the power and the presence of God more than any other time. Praise was my favorite thing to do. Praise gave me peace, joy and it helped me hold on to my sanity. Praise was a breeze of fresh air. Praise kept me in touch with God. Praise made God come down to my level. Praise was the ignition button I pushed every day, several times a day. Praise was the best part of my day. I listened to the Spirit of God and I kept the praises going when things were looking bad.

There is true power in praise. I talk about praise all the time because it is powerful all the time. Friend, if you haven’t tapped into the power of praise, I invite you to do it today and every day. I am not talking about listening to praise music and humming along because the tune is nice. I am talking about actively praising the Lord. I am talking about engaging in praise with all your heart. Praise is not about how beautiful the song is or how well you can sing. It is about how beautiful the Lord is and how good He is. Praise is about Jesus and only Jesus. Praise is rejoicing over the Lord because He is good all the time. Praise should not take into consideration our circumstances. It should keep going all the time. That is why the Lord told me to keep the praises going even though I was having a hard time. I would say that during our trials and tribulations, our praises should be louder. Our praises should take up more space. They should radiate more. We should focus on Jesus more. Praise has the ability to make us forget what is bothering us and to remind us that the Lord is with us. “Praise your problems away” some people say. I am repeating what the Lord said to me. Friend, keep the praises going today. I know it’s difficult at times to open our mouths when our minds are loaded with worry. Praise Jesus and your mind will be clear.

When Paul and Silas were in prison, they prayed and sang praises unto God at night. The prisoners heard them sing. All of a sudden there was a great earthquake. The prison was shaken and the doors were opened. Their shackles were loosed. Praise did that. Praise got them out of jail. They didn’t zero in on their conditions. They sang to Jesus. People heard them and it didn’t bother them. Their praises were stronger than their pride. Their praises were heartfelt and they caused their situation to change. Your praises can do the same thing since you are praising the same God. Your current trials and tribulations can be so awful that you might believe you are in jail. Keep the praises going. Don’t let the prison doors keep you captive. Don’t let the negative thoughts keep you captive. Don’t let doubt keep you captive. Don’t let people keep you captive by what they are telling you. Keep the praises going even when others would rather hear you cry. God knows what’s best for you and your praises are the best remedy right now and all the time. Open your heart. Sing out the praises of the Lord. Stay strong in your praise. Stay strong in your heart and keep the praises going. You are going to make it. You are going to be blessed. I have kept the praises going for years and they are still setting me free. Bless the Lord and the prison doors will open. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!

What is God building in your life?

Before He started His ministry on earth, Jesus was a carpenter. A carpenter is someone who repairs or makes wooden structures and objects. I love that carpenters make and repair. This concept exemplifies what the Lord does. Jesus is the carpenter of my life. He fixed my life and He made it what it is now. He gave me eternal life. That is what He does. He didn’t just do it for me. He did it for anyone who believes in Him. When He died on the cross, people thought it was the end. It was just the beginning of the structure He was building. He was making something that would last forever and that no one could undo. Jesus built eternal life. He repaired our lives and fixed them with salvation. He redeemed us of our sins and  built a bridge between the Father and us. That bridge of salvation is a structure that we can count on. It is indestructible. Jesus undid death and replaced it with His resurrection. Now, His resurrection power is the permanent structure that lives in us. If you have Jesus, His power lives in you. It is building you up and it is fixing you and making things new. God is at work in your life. If we remain in Him and His words remain in us, He will build something amazing in our lives. What is God building in your life today? He is repairing your life and making a life that is blessed by His presence.

What the Lord is building in you is a powerful structure that relies on His Son. The Lord wants to builds reliance in us. What He is building in our lives requires work on our part and faith. The Lord would never force anything into our lives. We have to agree and we have to believe. We can’t be passive and expect Him to do something good inside of us. That powerful structure of dependence on Jesus can be put together when we take a step of faith and we trust that God is at work in our lives. The process started when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and it continues every single day. Our salvation and our lives with Christ are an ongoing journey. We can help the Carpenter repair our lives by having total faith in Him and by letting Him be the part of us that He should be. We could choose to privilege the world and its ways or we can choose Jesus and let Him develop His mind in us. We can share the mind of Christ as we renew our thinking with His Word and we are in contact with His Spirit. Let’s always choose Jesus. Let’s always choose Jesus over the world. Let’s get to know Him better thanks to the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is in us and with us and that relationship can be amazing. The Lord gives us the wood we need and it is up to us to finish the work by leaning on the Spirit and adoring the Lord. Adoration and worship are crucial here. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit and in His temple there should be rejoicing and celebration. We are a place of worship that should be active all the time. It is sad when we don’t answer the call and we deprive our temple of praising the Lord. When we do that, we are like a church where the lights are never turned on, Jesus is forgotten and there is no fruit and no progress. God can build a tree of hope inside of us when we keep our hopes in Jesus and we actively engage with Him. The structure of peace and joy the Lord desires for us to have is attainable. It can be made when we spend time in the Word of God, we pray every day, we walk in love, we stay in faith and we exalt the Lord. God is building a wonderful structure of faith, love and hope in you, friend. Give Him permission to place the beam of joy, the joist of love and the structure of faith inside of you. As you rely on God, He will fix what needs to be fixed in your life and He will create a new you. God can build anything and He built you for a time like this so stay in faith and keep on going. May God bless you and protect you and remember that He will always love you!
